LOS ANGELES, Calif. – 2010 alum Lauren Presant (Poway, Calif./Poway) and incoming freshman Hannah Koper (Santa Barbara, Calif./San Marcos) of Brown University will be among 12 players that will represent the United States at the 19th World Maccabiah Games from July 18-30 in Israel.
The Maccabiah Games is the third-largest international sporting event in the world, drawing more than 7,000 athletes representing 60 countries.
An attacker, Koper was a four-year starter and two-year captain of the varsity water polo team at San Marcos High School. A four-time Junior Olympic medalist and All-Channel League recipient, she claimed All-CIF honors on three occasions.
A three-time All-Northern Division First Team selection (2008, 2009, 2010) and four time All-Conference selection with All-Northern Division Second Team honors in 2007, Presant scored 86 goals, handed out 34 assists and picked up 36 steals for the Bears during her senior season in 2010. She guided Brown to the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship, claimed three Colleiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship All-Tournament honors (2008 – Second Team; 2009, 2010 – First Team) and held the school record in goals in a career (341) and goals in a season (100) at the time of her graduation.
The duo are among four CWPA student-athletes that will make-up the 12-woman Team USA roster as incoming freshman Hannah Lapkin of Princeton University and Gabriella Serure (Coral Gables, Fla./Ransom Everglades) of the University of Michigan will also travel to Israel to represent their country.
